Actually, ever since POTC came out, people have been obsessed about pirates. Ninja's are cool, but I had always been more of a pirate fan even before TP. (Note my Pirate Happy thing below my avi) But at the time it came out, POTC hadn't set this pirate frenzy the people have nowadays. People didn't care too much for pirates back then. And Disney was already going into a down ward spiral. I didn't think they tried promoting it either. I barely even saw a preview on my TV. At the time, Disney was getting cruddy and no one wanted to watch what seemed to be a cruddy movie when they could buy it on DVD a few months later.
My theory is, now that both POTC movies are out and everyone is a freak about Jack Sparrow and pirates, that if TP was released now a lot of people would go watch it. Kids now love pirates because of those two awesome movies. And if they saw a preview for a Disney movie that gave them nice animation with SPACE pirates, they would go for that like free candy. But that's just my thoughts. Any of you guys agree or disagree with me about it?

Everything comes in fads, I guess. It's a shame TP didn't sell or get very good reviews. Seeing it now, I wish I had seen it in theaters. You may be on to something, comicgeek. If they were to release TP again at this time--maybe in IMAX theaters or something--it probably would get a bigger audience simply because of the popularity to pirates brought about by POTC. I haven't even seen the latter two films, but I've heard enough about them to know--in my opinion--they've got nothing on Treasure Planet.

*shrugs* Humm Maybe. What's funny is though is that my sister loves Lilo & Stitch, but I hate it, and I love Treasure Planet and she hates it, but they're both space movies!

Weird. I've never seen L&S, but I've seen the cartoon series and...I'm not impressed. I guess the movie was a hit with a lot of people though.

Actually, the movie was cute and was very funny. Stitch is adorable and Lilo reminded me of my little sister. It was the series that stunk. I avoid watching that show at all costs, which is a shame because the fist L&S movie was really enjoyable.

Yeah, I guess in addition to Disney sequels, Disney cartoon spin-offs based on films are pretty lousy too--particularly in the animation department. It just looks cheap.

I only love the first L&S but not the series. Lilo kinda reminds me of me in a way, I actually DO behave like that Even though I'm 15 years old *eyeroll*

I used to watch that movie so many times when I was younger. That was the movie that made me obsessed with foxes. What is the plot line like? Does it seem really uncreative?

It looks like one of the "stupider" Disney sequels in my opinion. You might be able to find a trailer on youtube.
