Did you you see the movie in theaters or did you wait for it to come out on DVD? Did you watch it more than once in the theaters? What ever it was, how did you become the Treature Planet fan you are today?

I just saw the film on the Disney Channel back in May and I was hooked from there. I wasn't interested in it when it first came out in theaters simply because I kinda gave up on Disney after The Emperor's New Groove and Atlantis. The characters seemed to lack dimension and the beautiful design of other Disney animated films, so I was like, "Bah, Disney's lost it".
It was "by accident" that I ended up seeing Treasure Planet this year and I immediately wished I had taken an interest in it sooner because, by now, it's hard to find on DVD. I did find a used DVD at the local mall back in the beginning of June...only to find it was majorly scratched on the climax of the film (the escape from Treasure Planet), so I missed that entire part.
Thankfully, just yesterday I found Treasure Planet brand new on DVD in Sam's Club, so I can watch the whole movie straight through now--huzzah! I love the part where B.E.N. gets all emotional, LOL! I do still regret not seeing it in theaters though. I'll bet it was awesome! How 'bout you, comicgeek? What got you hooked?

I remember reading a kid's version of Treasure Island when I was real young. So, I already loved the tale. I agree with you, I did think Disney was getting way too sloppy. Lately they have done very bad but for the exception of both POTC.
But I was 12 when it came to threaters. I wanted to see it because I've always been in love with those old wooden ships, the graphics looked amazing for a Disney movie, and yes, Jim is a pretty good looking cartoon character. Well, you're a guy, so you most likely don't care if he's good looking or not. lol.
I watched it in the threaters for my little sister's birthday and it was so cool. I now have it in surround sound and smile everytime it comes to the spaceport. I love those ships! The R.L.S. Legacy is beautiful!
But the main reason I loved it so much, was because I was kind of going through what Jim was in the beginning. Like the words to that song said, I was a question to the world. I'm a middle child and I don't very much attention and so I felt rejected by everything and was such a loner. I wrapped myself around the movie and Jim's character to support myself at that young age. I just kept thinking, Jim made it through, then so can I.
Sorry if this is getting too long, but I'm fine now. My relationship with my parents and family is now deep. Whenever I watch the movie, I like knowing that the movie helped me so much. It was my little obbsession that helped me through that troubled time.

That's cool. I'm the same way when it comes to being able to relate to animated characters and their stories. I can relate to Jim as well, but not as much as I can relate to B.E.N. My brother is able to relate to Jim, so we are like the Jim and B.E.N. duo in my house. We're always quoting Jim and B.E.N. scenes back and forth.

My little sister and I do that a lot. We like to quote anything funny and when there is a silence between us, it is usually broken by some funny quote. We do quote B.E.N. a lot and I do randomly say "We're dead! We're dead, we're dead, we're dead!" ;D I just think Morph was so cute when he said that. We also purposely mess up our words like Doppler does, just to get the other to laugh.

I love the "We're dead!" thing. That cracks me up. I think that and when Morph was making fun of B.E.N. and suggesting he was crazy were the two things he did that made me laugh the hardest. I use the "I think he suffered from mood swings..." quote a lot. I just say it at random and get my whole family laughing.

I never saw it in theatres, although I did want to. I saw the previews and really just wanted to see it because it looked like it would have some beautiful animation. Mum and Bro went and saw it when I was gone one weekend, but I couldn't persuede them to go again. It slipped from my mind until my brother rented it from the library, and I saw it sitting in the basement. It was a friday night and I didn't have plans, so I decided to pop it in. I fell in love with it right away, and watched it again the next 2 nights. I checked it out again and ended up watching it at least once a week before I finally bought the DVD. I think the only movie that I've seen more times than TP is The Little Mermaid, and I've been watching that since I was 3 Really, I just love everything about this movie. The story and is moving, the characters are very heartwarming, and the acting is top-notch. The animation is just stunning, and the score is both powerful and elegant. Great, great film. One of Disney's best, if not the best.

I lost count of how many times I've watched this film. The only other two movies I have watched over and over again without getting tired of them has been The Road To El Dorado and Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron. I meant to pick up on the mention of the ship and galleon designs earlier, but it slipped my mind, so I'll stick it in this post. I love the look of the Legacy and the skiffs. That stuff is just awesome! I also think the solar surfer rocks! Talk about an extreme sport!

I got close to riding something like a solar surfer once. I took wind surfing lessons when my family was on vacation one time. Its kind of hard, but SO much fun once you get the hang of your sail. I can see why Jim loved it so much.
And the only movies I've seen as much as TP would have to be Cats Don't Dance and A Bug's Life. I have an odd obsession with ant movies. The Ant Bully will be another collection to my small ant related movie list. Can't wait to go see that one!

My obsession developed quite slowly. I noticed it was coming out in the Thethers AND sorry to say: I'm one of those girls who ALWAYS (note the word ALWAYS) Judges a book by it's cover so I thought: "Treasure Island in space" ? STUPID! Then when it premired on ABC I catched the little last bit of it when the kitty pulled on The Doggies ear. I asked my mom "What's that?" She said: "Treasure Planet." I was thinking ' I might like it' I never acutally saw the movie untill the end of 2003 I noticed the Libaray had it so I borrowed it. I wacthed the movie then all the specail features. I Only barrowed it for 3 days but I couldn't stop watching it! I must have watched the movie 90 times in 3 days. I couldn't take my eyes off Silver. Before I knew it I got obsessed and I ended up bying the DVD in Planet Hollywood in New York City (for a band trip) As soon as I bought Treasue Planet I began to watch it like crazy! That also started my obsession with Pirates too. I don't watch it as much anymore 'cause I know it by heart. My obsessions develop slowly.

When I first started watching the movie, I thought Doppler was going to be my favorite simply because he cracked me up when he carried on a conversation in Flatula with Mr. Snuff, but when B.E.N. came into the picture, he made me laugh waaaaaaaaaaaay more than Doppler did. Plus I felt sorry for him. Doppler kind of annoys me now--especially in that one part where he brags about his "superior intellect". *rolls eyes*

Oh yeah He's soooooooooooooooooooooooo smart! In my fanfiction Auggie (well me *rolls eyes*) I just basically laugh at the Doctor because he's so clumsy! People's pain is my laughter! I ended up asking Jim "How can one single man be so accident prone?" Jim was all: "Whatever" Like he usually is. -_-' *shakes Jim* PAY ATTENTION TO ME!

I really favor those scenes when Captain Amelia is pointing out just how stupid Doppler is. It cracks me up when he starts spluttering and stammering in an attempt to match her wit. So much for his "superior intellect", eh? I think B.E.N. is far clumsier than he is though.
